Ridgefield Man Caught With Heroin, Cannabis In Putnam County

Putnam County Sheriff Robert Langley Jr. announced several arrests that have been made by the Department's Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) in recent weeks.

Among the area residents who were busted for various infractions include: 

  • On Sept. 28, members of the NEU stopped a vehicle for traffic violations, on Route 6, in Carmel. Subsequent to the deputies' traffic stop and interview, the operator of the vehicle, a 31-year-old male, from Hopewell Junction, was found to be in possession of alleged heroin. The subject was charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance. The subject was released on his own recognizance for a future court appearance in the Town of Carmel Justice Court.
  • On Sept. 28, members of the NEU observed an occupied suspicious vehicle, upon approaching the vehicle the driver was seen throwing an item towards his feet within the vehicle. The investigation revealed that the two occupants, a 22-year-old New Fairfield, man, and a 37-year-old Brewster woman, were in possession of alleged cocaine. Both were charged with a single misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and are scheduled for a future court appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court.
  • On Sept. 29, a 44-year-old man from Ridgefield, was arrested following a traffic stop by members of the NEU, on Church Street, in the Town of Carmel. During the traffic stop, deputies determined the operator to be in possession of alleged heroin and concentrated cannabis.
  • On Sept. 29, NEU members conducted a traffic stop on Secor Road, in Mahopac, which resulted in the arrest of the operator, a 28-year-old Mahopac woman, when she was found to be in possession of alleged heroin and Clonazepam. She is facing two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • On Oct. 3, members of the NEU conducted a traffic stop for traffic violations and found the vehicle’s operator, a 50-year-old Brewster woman, to be in possession of alleged marijuana and several pills classified as controlled substances. The woman was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance and one violation count of unlawful possession of marijuana.
  • On Oct. 10, NEU members observed an illegally parked vehicle, on Route 6, in Mahopac. Upon approaching the vehicle, NEU members detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. NEU members interviewed the vehicle’s operator, which revealed that he was in possession of alleged LSD and concentrated cannabis. The 28-year-old Mahopac resident was charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and was released on his own recognizance.
  • On Oct. 10, after a lengthy investigation into the sale of LSD, occurring in Southeast, NEU members arrested a 19-year-old Brewster teenager on two counts of felony criminal Sale of a controlled substance.
  • On Oct. 13, NEU members conducted a traffic stop on Secor Road, in Mahopac, resulting in the arrest of a 28-year-old man from Kent. The man was charged with criminal possession of marijuana after he was found to be in possession of more than two ounces of the drug. 
  • On Oct. 16, after a 20-year-old Putnam Valley man was found to be in possession of alleged cocaine and concentrated cannabis, NEU members arrested the man on three felony counts of criminal sale of marijuana, three misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of marijuana, two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
  • On Oct. 16, members of the NEU were patrolling Route 52, in Carmel, when they observed a 36-year-old Cortlandt Manor man snorting alleged heroin inside a vehicle. The alleged heroin, in excess of one-eighth of an ounce was recovered from inside the vehicle. The male was charged with a single felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
